Love my X52. But the drivers are quite basic.
I believe that Saitek are planning some more sophisticated drivers soon that will do some of the things that the Cougar already does. If Saitek deliver, then the X52 will be even more awesome!
Cheers,

My only complaint about the X52 is that it has too much play in the joystick. by that I mean you need large inputs for small corrections which makes guns kills very difficult at times, especially when trying to counter a bandits jinking - I always end up overcorrecting, then over compensating. This never happens when I've used other sticks. Apart from that it's a great HOTAS.

That's right - Saitek x52 is a very good HOTAS. The only thing I would change is the spring - it's too gentle in my opinion.
That's what I like is a possibility of loading or changing the HOTAS profile without exiting the game.

Yep, very happy with mine.
If you ever find it does need alot of travel for small movements you should be able to adjust the in-game sensitivity to compensate.
The spring is very soft but there are ways to fix that, plus it seems they've made the PRO with more resistance and better feedback (according to the PC Pilot review on the Saitek website). I almost want mine to break soon so I can get the new one...
I love the all-black look.
Wonder if they'll do the same as ATI and give you 50 bucks for your old hardware...?

I suppose the best would be to get a stronger spring from a hardware store. I don't know how that would affect the feedback. I've seen websites where people strap rubber bands from the shaft to the base, that's another option.
I've used the easier fix I've seen so far, it doesn't make a huge difference but it helps. Just use one or more of those little foam donuts you get from a cd/dvd spindle, and cut a slit on it so you can slide it between the base of the grip and the spring. You can even use a metal washer, it'd be more work but it wouldn't give like the foam.
I might try finding pics of the PRO, see what sort of system it uses and see if it can be used on the old stick.

Mel,
Another option to the idea of putting spacers under the spring is to put them above the spring. This is more effective in that since the spring is receeded into the rest of the handle, a thinner slice will do.

Exactly, that's what I meant to say when I said between the grip base and the spring... sorry...
